About Us

Hi!

We are your Magnolia WV hosts, Leigh & Corey. We live in Baltimore City and have been married since 2010.

By day, Corey is an engineer, and Leigh is an accountant. In 2015, at the recommendation of some friends, we decided to earn a little extra money by renting out our primary residence in Baltimore while we traveled.

We enjoyed it so much, we decided to branch out.

On a day trip to Berkeley Springs, we fell in love with the area and everything West Virginia has to offer. We purchased the cabin shortly after and haven’t looked back!

Leigh loves the design, hospitality, and marketing aspects, while Corey enjoys hunting for houses, renovations, and operations. A perfect match!

Here is how we came upon each property and why we picked them…

Magnolia in the Woods Cabin

We purchased the Cabin in the spring of 2017, spent the summer rehabbing, and our Airbnb listing went live that fall. When we first saw the property, we fell in love with the cozy cabin vibe and forest views from the wraparound deck. One short hike down steps to the private access on Sleepy Creek, and we were sold!

Our goal with the cabin was to brighten up the space inside and to modernize the bathrooms and kitchen. We later added a screened-in porch to create an enclosed outdoor space to hang out in and enjoy the evening.

  • What we love about Berkeley Springs – It’s a small historic spa town with a fun and quirky arts scene. We love visits to the local farmers market, strolling the small downtown, and the nearby state parks!

Magnolia Pond Farmhouse

In the fall of 2018, Corey stumbled across an old farmhouse for sale on the Facebook page For the Love of Old Houses. We visited the house the next day… and it truly was love at first sight.

After several months of messy renovations, the farmhouse was listed on AirBnB in the spring of 2019. We completed the “Barn” with a billiard room and studio apartment by winter 2020. In 2021, we added the Soake plunge pool.

  • What we love about Harpers Ferry – Proximity to historic Harpers Ferry National Park, Virginia wineries / breweries / distilleries, the Appalachian Trail, and tubing on the Potomac / Shenandoah. A fall visit – during peak leaf season – is truly magical.

Thanks for visiting Wild and Wonderful West Virginia!

We look forward to hosting your getaway.

– Leigh & Corey
